Appointed to the Los Angeles Superior Court in 2003, Frederick Shaller first presided over criminal cases. Assigned to the bench in family law court in Pomona in 2004, Judge Shaller oversaw requests for restraining orders under the California Domestic Violence Prevention Act and heard cases concerning dissolution of marriage and custody.
In his current role as a Family Law Judge, Frederick Shaller displays dedication and knowledge of the law, considering the best interests of all parties involved in cases related to marriage dissolution, custody matters, support hearings, and property division. He serves the only long cause court in Los Angeles devoted to family law. Judge Frederick Shaller has tried more than 75 jury trials to verdict, as well as a number of bench trials.
Prior to his appointment as a Superior Court Judge, Frederick Shaller operated as an attorney in private practice focusing on health care law. Over the course of his career, he has practiced with a number of respected law firms, working on malpractice cases involving architects, doctors, and other attorneys, as well as handling tort cases, product liability, and personal injury cases. A knowledgeable and respected legal professional, Frederick Shaller has taught continuing education courses on family law and spoken at lawyers’ seminars. He earned his Juris Doctor from Los Angeles’ Loyola Law School in 1979.
